Gun's haven't changed since the days of Billy the Kid and wilde west. Todays gun's may be better made but they still the same basic design from the 1900's.

Even our new aircraft carriers used weapons designed and conceived in the 1940's

There seems to be no new weapon ideas since the end of world war two.

I find it really odd the world still uses chemicals to fire a bit of metal in the 21 century to settle wars. ( Something we have been doing since the hundred years' war in 1346)

It's not like governments aren't spending money on new weapons research, they are. The biggest obstacle to change seems to be those using them. Back in the 1930's the British army ran exercises with tanks, infantry and cavalry in front of the main politicians of the day. Needless to say the army play up on the roles of cavalry and infantry and side lined the use of tanks. A few peoples egos and pride ment in 1939 the UK had no real tanks and was forced to buy poor designs from overseas.

The navy did the same playing down aircraft carriers and aircraft.

And I think that's where are now. Unless the UK decides there not fighting war world 2 and moves on, we are defenceless. Any money spent on the UK military is just being wasted.

Lasers are another ww1 idea. In the 1950's research began and today the most common use is speed cameras.

No one yet uses a handheld laser to kill in the many wars going on around the world. After all, a bit of tin foil defeats and deflects the effects.

Well, there's this!

""US Navy ships will be fitted with highly-powered lasers to combat swarms of enemy attack boats as Washington prepares for naval warfare.""

So you can use lasers as long as you don't use them to blind someone.

So you can't blind them, but can kill them [confused1.gif]
What happens if you do blind them? Finish them off with a brick [shrug65465.gif]

They have! It's what powers all the UFOs we see so often on our skies.
They are meant to be secret, of course, well: we can't have everybody going anywhere they like, can we?
