""Police watched a drowning man die after the chief ordered officers NOT to go into the water and attempt to rescue him, an inquest heard.
The officers could hear the drowning man's screams and shouts from the river bank as his vehicle sank into the murky waters of the River Thames.""

They certainly don't work for us any more!

Are you kidding me? OMG how awful. Our teams have special units who regardless wear special gear in the event something like that happens..in frigid, freezing waters..superior officer there should be fired. Those officers suspended from job.. duty to protect and serve no matter what. There pledge of oath...oh how truly awful.

You need to read the whole episode rather than just the headline grabbing bollocks the Dong loves to run with.

Doesn't matter what I read...the man's still drowned!

The man drowning was an aside to your piece... you failed to mention he’d intentionally driven into a fast flowing, deep river..

Did you intentionally miss the bit about the fast flowing, deep river?

Firefighters don’t go into unsafe buildings, they do what they can from the outside... so as not to endanger further lives..

The report says there were volunteers to try a rescue but they were ordered not to!

See! There are a few good people.

It is true that in certain situations such as firefighters and a building ready to collapse or explode hold back as told as loss of more life. This a tradegy as well. Freezing water temperatures as said before have special equipment. We have had news reporting in which cars have skidded into frozen lakes..teams sent out. I recall just last year a beautiful dog got stuck on a frozen lake..the ice began to give way..we observed dedication on news as all there determined to rescue and did finally..
