I was being bored to tears by another group of soap dodgers last night

This time it was ACORN [9n5.gif]

What we do

We bring people together into powerful local groups to take action on whatever they think is important.

A lot of our success has been in housing – preventing evictions, winning repairs in dangerous properties, stopping banks from discriminating against tenants on housing benefit – but we’re a democratic organisation so our members decide what we focus on.

Those members own and run the organisation. They set our strategy, decide on our tactics, and take the action to make it happen. As an ACORN member, you’ll receive all the training and support you need to do that in your community too.

Acorn is community union you have pay equivalent of at least 1 hour's income per month to be a member of. :peekaboo:

They deal with housing issues, involved with politics, corporate accountability and more [rofl02.gif]

The feeling I pick up from the meeting was wannbe's trying to get on the local council and momentum members trying to pick up grass roots support.

It's hard to say if this group is needed right now. Idea's like this always take hold in university towns but fail outside them.

I'm told most people rent now, so it mite play to a wider audience [shrug65465.gif]
