How many of us put down our mobiles, our laptops. How many of us stopped talking, put down our cups of tea. When some many gave up their lives for us, did we give up two minutes for them.

Not just our grandads, who grandma may have mentioned, not just a great grandfather, you may have discovered in a family tree.

I tried posting a YouTube video from the British Army, titled “Pause, reflect, remember” a very poignant video.. hopefully someone would manage this.

I guess this is a measure of these boards now... what is left to discuss, as I find it more difficult to engage with anyone here...

Only the guilty pay attention to this day.

Those of us who have been under fire for long periods know its bullshit. Another recruiting tool and marketing campagne.

The truth is simple, the UK only fights wars of choice.

In 1914 Belgium had a population of around 7.5 million. First World War accounting for 886,000 UK fatalities. One in forty died for Belgium.

The UK lost another 1/2 million fighting for Poland in the second war.

Both times the regular forces were under funded and wipe out in the first battles of the wars. Leaving conscripted forces to take their places. People who had nothing to gain by fighting and everything to lose.

When you watch the tv pictures today, look at the great and the good laying there poppies first. Its there pride and egos your defending. Ready to send you off to the Ukraine or Turkey to fight in another pointless war.

Our politicians can always resign and move to the country if the death toll is too high.....but those forced on the front lines can only die.

And if you don't want to go, they will force you.

They don't care if you lose everything doing it.

And even if you make it home alive, the next 100 years will be spend paying for it thru taxes.

Don't be brainwashed by today, see it for what it really is.......admission of guilt.

No, it’s paying respect to men and women who fought and died in wars they neither asked for, nor wanted

Only a fool wants war. If you want to shake your fist angrily at those who sent them off, by all means do so...

.. but my two minutes silence wasn’t for them..

You need to look at the times.

Stalin was running gulags and staved 5 million of his own people.
The Americans still had segregation and killed black people for sport.
The UK was no better. We gassed and starving people too.

I hate to say this but in the 1930's Hitler's ideas were the "normal".. even mainstream.

Do I believe the UK should have got involved in the first or second war? Nope. They weren't our wars to fight.

The only tvvat here is Tiggy

If you want I can run of a list of all the shit our troops got up too. Including state sponsored torture, rape and worst. And if you can take any pride in their actions you need to be in a nut house.
