yep was thinking about putting this thread on rememberance
but seeing theres a Floyd thread on
oh you know if anybody can write about the poignancy,bitterness futileness about war well roger waters can.
I play this album every armistice day ,my favourites being when the tigers broke free and the gunners dream,but that is being unfair to the rest of the songs on this masterpiece
that bit in gunners dream goodbye max goodbye ma after the service when youre walking slowly to the car and the sax comes in is soooo melancholic
as is tigers song and that is why the high command took my daddy from me

not a great fan of chris de burgh but his song about paschaendale called song for you is well worth listening to


right going now off to watch "the wall" my favourite film and album
bye.

that Spanish train album is a cracking album suze

how did you first hear about chris de burgh?
I was listening to a late night radio show with you know one of them one speaker plastic ear plugs and I thought I heard the dj say Christie bear
so I went to the record shop next day
me"got owt by Christie bear luv"?
shop girl" who"what does he sing?
me "er Spanish fly or summat*
her " no don't think so try hmv"

Actually I heard of him first when Lady in Red was doing the rounds.
(And the only song of his I truly detest).
