British film of poor lad who takes to Ballet, up North, to the derision and crudity of friends and family. However he gets some support, wins through and you come to the final scene where all his friends and family have gathered at Covent garden for his first big one...Swan Lake.
The scene where he enters, stage right, like a graceful bird is mesmerising as he soars across the stage, as is the sudden understanding of his Father, who wanted a footballer for a son.
It brings tears to my eyes just to remember it.

A brilliant film I agree. But you're about 20 years to late.

Never seen it, not intending to either, however, people say it is a good film that is ageless, like other “northern” community films, Kes and The full monty..
