As you know my new sailing boat delivery date been pushed back to Aug
A friend ask me to look at a £70 kayak from ebay before buying one. ( The details are on the games thread). Just to get back out on the water I ordered one too.
Where to start on this
It was delivered on Wed and my first experience didn't go well
Like a 5 year old, I got it out the box in under 30 sec's and had it pump up in mins. Off to the bottom of the garden I ran
Once in the water I realized I'd forgotten to pump up one of the chambers. So I pull it out again and grab the pump. This time I over inflated the kayak and rolled. As it rolled my house keys and e ciggy fell out of my pocket. After waiting for 2 hours for the tide to go out, finding my keys but not my e ciggy. At least I could get in the house again.
After 3 days I've given up looking for my e ciggy.
Yesterday was better, conditions were right, I had new set of house keys cut wore them around my neck this time...... leaving my e ciggy at home too.
When I was 8 years old my parents took me to the kayaking centre for a days training.... drinking more river water than canoeing. Its funny how all that training came back after 40 odd years.
You can only use a cheap kayak when conditions are perfect, flat seas, little or no wind. Otherwise the kayak swamps and you roll too often. In the summer months such days are common. Its why paddle boards are so common on the English channel.
