I've paid for my corsair 880 :proud:
Its my "thank you" present for looking cool and tolerancing fools

But...... there is an argument that my OLDER sister deserves something to from my later uncles american edstate

This is after I lend HER kids flat deposits that will never been seen again :wall:

My plan was to splash that cash on looking even more fabulous and a bum tuct :crying:

So right now I'm entertaining her mad idea of a floating bread bin.

Over all my feeling is the life time running costs are too high for this idea to be taken seriously. Every 24 months a canal boat needs to be drag out the water for "reblacking" and this is around 2k. The hulls are made from steel and after all I've read on the subject... rust from the inside out. Mooring charges and canals fees cost money and there not cheap. My gut is telling with insurance and all the other costs like running repairs....I'm looking at an 5-8k per year bill.

I still can't see the attraction of going 5 mph down a muddy straight ditch thru old industrial landscapes [shrug65465.gif]

It's like being stuck in the slow lane of the M1.

While at sea you escape all the people, noise, summer heat and flying insects. You sleep down below the water line and can hear the orchestra of the sea.

And this is the reason why "Departure One" is being discussed. I'm more open to the idea of moving this around coastal marinas and caravan sites over the summer months... packing it away during the winter to save money. Maintenance should be easier too and no boat lift fees :rarrr:

If someone really needs a place to stay, there is no reason something like "Departure One" can't be towed north and moored in a canal marina within a few hours......if the have a slipway. [shrug65465.gif]

What I need to do is visit a canal and talk to a few owners in person.

OK I've just been asked the question:

Why marina's and not caravan parks?

Marina's are open all year round, caravan parks are seasonal.

"Trailer trash" is buying a static caravan on some 3rd rate sardin camping site and living there full time.

Just ask Tiggy 1956362r6lk147bwq.gif]

Towing a trailer means opening up a new world of adventurers :winedrinker:
All those it may be cheaper to fly there and stay in a hotel
