I like looking at epitaphs ... and, without wishing to sound too macabre, love graveyards.

My favourite, if there should ever be such a thing, is Père Lachaise in Paris (and, in fact, where I'd like my ashes to be scattered ... in case anybody ever pops into PATS to ask. Lol) and it cherishes the memories of some very influential/famous/talented people.

The tombs, headstones, memorials, etc. vary in range from the very simple to the overly ornate.

Fascinatingly beautiful.
Peaceful.

This is a more local gravestone ... curious that it names the murderers, both (and who were later caught and hung for this and an additional murder).

"THO GARDINER, postboy of Lincoln, barbarously murdered by Isaac & Tho.Hallam, Jan 3 1732, aged 19"

Sorry for randomness on your thread!
Was just pondering.

lol I'm the queen of random...ponder til your hearts content ....I love it ......Oscar was transferred to the cemetery you mentioned and omg to that headstone naming the murderers.....wonder why they would do that, to make them ashamed maybe..I dunno.

And alien tears will fill for him
Pity's long-broken urn,
For his mourners will be outcast men,
And outcasts always mourn.

I never left my lingering lipstick kiss adorning his gravestone, might I just add?

(Nor was I responsible for the theft of the penis).

Pmllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Too funny!

I remember years ago there was a site online like 'Find a Grave' but it had tons of info including epitaphs etc and strange stories...it might not be around anymore...does that ring any bells with you? If not, I will try and track it down.
